Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE)

In order to become a full-fledged UPE member, you must jump through all of the following hoops. It's like that episode on The Simpsons, where Homer got paddled to join this cult. Except, these paddles aren't painful. They're for your own good. :)

For the humor-impaired, candidates must fulfill all of the following requirements.

• Help out in 2 events and participate in 2 activities.
• Attend 2 of 3 general meetings.
• Submit your resumé to the Industrial Liaison (by week 4 of the semester).
• Submit the candidate fee.
• Attend the end-of-semester banquet.

Seventy bucks?! Now about that candidate fee...

Yes, $70. It's a lot of cash. You could be using that seventy bucks to pay for, say, half a textbook. If you're wondering about just where the green goes:

• $35 goes to the national UPE association to support scholarship programs and conferences.
• $35 goes to Berkeley UPE's funds to support our workshops, student programs, social events, and banquets.
• You get to be in the company of the brightest minds.
• You earn a lifetime membership to a prestigious honor society.
• You can access our exclusive jobs and events mailing list.
